Ontario Autism Program (OAP): All OT and psychotherapy services I provide are eligible for coverage by OAP.

Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB): I am an NIHB approved provider for mental health counselling and can bill NIHB directly.

Workplace benefits: Some workplace insurance plans cover occupational therapy, please check with your provider.

Please note: Many benefit plans that cover psychotherapy limit which professions are eligible (e.g. psychotherapy coverage may only include social workers or psychologists). I am an occupational therapist registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), providing both psychotherapy and general OT services. Please confirm with your insurance provider if occupational therapy, or psychotherapy with an occupational therapist, is covered.

Ask for OT

If your employee benefit plan or student benefit plan does not cover occupational therapy or psychotherapy with an occupational therapist, consider asking your employer or school to include OT in their coverage. Occupational therapy in Canada has a long history, advanced training, rigorous standards, and effective, evidence-based practices, but it lacks strong lobbying and widespread recognition. Canadian insurance providers often exclude OT from coverage because employers don’t request it. Your request could help to change this.
